manuscript
We learned the Wargrave has had a desire to kill since he was young.
We learned that Wargrave choose murderers that were beyond the reach of the law.
We also learned that Mr. Morris was one of the people Wargrave decided to kill because he was a drug dealer and pressured a girl to take drugs that ended up committing suicide. Did the girl commit suicide or did Morris? Morris died from poisoning - a concoction that Wargrave gave Morris for his 'gastric indigestion' the night before everyone left for the island
We learned that Wargrave wanted to make the people that were more guilty suffer longer and kill them last.
We learned that Wargrave made a secret alliance with Dr. Armstrong, and they decided to fake justice Wargrave's death to supposedly confuse the murderer.
Wargrave was found out to be the murderer, Mr. Owen.
I think the climax is when Vera hangs herself after she shoots Lombard. Doesn't the story change direction when Wargrave is shot? Now they have no one to lead the pack. Everything after his death spirals downward. A second smaller bump down the resolution path would be when Vera hangs herself. There is nothing left to happen.
Overall, a good job. Although there are numerous punctuation and spelling errors, they are not that distracting from the thoughtful and thorough job done on all the assignments. I noticed you put a period after Miss. Since this is not an abbreviation for anything, there is no period needed. Mrs. and Mr. are abbreviations; therefore, periods are necessary. Mrs. M

10/20/10
Mr Blore says he doesn't like the job he is going to do. "Never thought I'd be doing this sort of job in a house here. Good thing, perhaps, that one can't see the future." (P. 36) This might foreshadow him doing a job that he doesn't like. Mr. Blore might have to kill the guests on the island or execute the orders that end in their death. He might also do exactly do what the poem says by getting rid of all the guests.
"He (Phillip Lombard) thought to himself: 'He'll ask me now if I was old enough to be in the War. These old boys always do.' But General Macarthur did not mention the War." (pg 22) - - This makes me wonder if General Maarthur already knows that Lombard wasn't in the war. Maybe he's been aware of Lombard's past?
"There was something sinister about it."(Pg. 22) This could foreshadow something really bad happening at the house or that happened in the house before. An en event that could be bad that happened before that the former owner of the house, the American millionaire, could have been killed by mister Owen. The event that could happen there might be the killing of all the guests.
"'There's a wasp crawling up your arm. No - keep quite still.' He made a convincing pounce. 'There. It's gone...'" (pg 20) When Phillip Lombard got the wasp off of Vera's Claythrone's arm, It seems that there is a connection between that and the Indian poem on page 31. It says, "Six little Indian boys playing with a hive; A bumblebee stung one and then there were five..." (Pg. 31) This makes the poem seem suspicious in general - there are ten guests and ten Indians. Maybe this poem explains how each guest is killed.
Your group made wise choices when picking examples of foreshadowing. I especially like the Lombard/Macarthur connection made in the second quote.

how does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
how might the title be a clue to the story?
A narrative is a story told by one person about an event. A mystery novel is where the reader is challenged to solve a puzzle, and at the end
of the story the book explains the puzzle's answer. In a mystery there might be less information given about events or characters that would be important to solving the mystery. In a narrative information is not usually hidden from the reader. The plot in a mystery is based on what the puzzle is, who is involved in the puzzle, and how the puzzle is being solved.
The title might be a clue to the story because it could be foreshadowing all the characters disappearing or the characters being killed. It also could show that the characters run out of options that could solve the mystery. I mostly think it refers to the disappearing or killing of all the characters because lots of mysteries are murder related, and the phrase and then there were none usually refers to people.
Good observations, Jonathan. We'll see how your definitions/predictions play out. This assignment page should also be linked back to the 'here' page. Please add that link. Mrs. M
